Van Domselaar proud of travelling supporters

Daphne van Domselaar described the feeling as special when asked about our travelling support as we gear up to face Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena.

Hundreds of our supporters are heading to Bavaria for our third match of the Women's Champions League, something which delights our goalkeeper.

She said: "I'm really proud to play in front of all the supporters. Week in, week out, the support they show us.

"Also, just the number of people that are coming to the match - it's something to look forward to. It will be a good game, a tough opponent. But we trust that we can face them. It will be a really interesting game."

We were roared on by our travelling support in the previous league phase clash against Benfica, winning 2-0 in Lisbon, and Daphne believes that kind of backing is like having an extra player on the pitch.

She added: "[Last time at Benfica] was amazing. They were put away quite high in the stadium, but we could still hear them. That's a big part of us: that twelfth player. They support us. They make us feel like we are playing at home.

"It's just special to play in front of so many travelling supporters at home and away. It honestly means a lot to us."

The announcement of Katie Reid's injury means our Dutch goalkeeper has played behind a variety of centre-back pairings this season. Despite the latest setback, Daphne is confident in the team's cohesion to put our best foot forward and get a result in Germany.

"I think everyone is so connected to the team," she said. "Everyone is really used to playing with a lot of different players next to them, so am I.

"During training, we get to know each other a bit more. I think we've been together for almost two years, we've built those relationships already.

"I think the team is doing well. Katie [Reid] not being there, other players are picking up the spots and doing really well. Honestly, I can work with everyone really well."
