Eagles stock report: Who’s trending up, down after win vs. Packers?

It’s time for a weekly stock report after the Philadelphia Eagles narrowly beat the Green Bay Packers, 10-7, on Monday night at Lambeau Field.

Whose arrow is pointing up after Week 10? And whose stock is dipping going into a primetime game vs. the Detroit Lions on Sunday? Let’s take a closer look.

STOCK UP

EDGE Jaelan Phillips: We can’t start with this with anyone but Phillips. Days after being acquired from Miami in exchange for a third-round pick, Phillips balled out. He had six tackles, two QB hits, a fourth-down TFL and a fumble recovery. Incredible stuff from Phillips.

DT Jalen Carter: Carter, who is eligible for a massive extension this offseason, entered the back half of this season with something to prove. The 2024 All-Pro was ejected in Week 1 for the Dak Prescott incident and missed the Week 6 loss to the Giants with a heel injury. But coming out of the bye week, Carter played arguably his best game of the year. The disruptive defensive tackle had five QB hurries and two batted passes at the line of scrimmage.

LB Nakobe Dean: In just his third game of extended action after coming off IR, Dean reminded everyone why he was such an integral part of last year’s Super Bowl-winning defense. The playmaking linebacker had six tackles, including a TFL and a strip-sack. Dean was all over the field, playing downhill and aggressive — and making Jordan Love look silly in the process. Props to Dean coming back from injury raring to go, in a contract year no less.

EDGE Nolan Smith: Speaking of coming off IR, Smith played for the first time since missing five games with a triceps injury. He didn’t get a full workload (19 defensive snaps). But Smith made good use of them, logging a pair of QB hits and a key second-quarter sack. With Phillips shining in his debut, Jalyx Hunt continuing to progress and Brandon Graham providing veteran cover, the arrow is pointing up for the edge rusher group as a whole.

STOCK DOWN

P Braden Mann: We start with a deep cut. Mann was one of the best punters in the league during the first month of the season. Since then, his play has dipped. There was no greater miscue by Mann than a 31-yard shank in the first half. Can’t have that.

LB Jihaad Campbell: With Dean back, Vic Fangio has been sprinkling in edge snaps for Campbell to get the rookie on the field. They haven’t been working all that well. There was one rep in particular when Campbell got manhandled by a third-string tight end. Combine that with a pass interference call downfield in coverage, and it was a night to forget for Campbell. The good thing is, he’s flashed serious potential at linebacker and has plenty of time to develop.

OT Jordan Mailata: No, Mailata didn’t allow a sack on a night where he faced “game-wrecker” Micah Parsons quite a bit. That’s what matters most. But Mailata still didn’t have his best night. The All-Pro right tackle had two uncharacteristic false start penalties. He also slipped on a pulling block, which stopped Saquon Barkley in his tracks and led to TFL.

Nick Sirianni: I still can’t get over the decision not to punt on fourth-and-6 on Green Bay’s 35-yard line with 33 seconds to go. The Packers had zero timeouts. Try to pin them at the 20 and make life as difficult as possible to get into field-goal range on a cold and windy night. That aggressiveness, paired with the overly conservative coward’s draws, didn’t make much sense.
