Liverpool trail Manchester City in the Premier League table by four points; however, that gap could be gone should Pep Guardiola's side receive a points deduction

Liverpool await the outcome of any Premier League sanctions Manchester City face

Manchester City face 115 charges for allegedly violating Premier League financial regulations between 2009 and 2018. City refute all charges they face.
A decision has been pending for a considerable time. The current anticipated timeframe for supporters to learn of any potential sanctions is late 2025.
The i Paper indicated that it could materialise this month, November, with a ruling casting a shadow over the forthcoming vote on Financial Fair Play regulations. "It's gone very quiet, and because it's been going on for so long, it's almost been forgotten about, but all hell could break loose when it lands," a source told the publication.
Various penalties are possible. They range from substantial fines to potential points deductions.
City will, nevertheless, retain the right to appeal, and the expectation is that one would follow should the club be found guilty of any allegations they face. Doing so would consequently prolong the situation further and postpone the enforcement of any potential sanctions, fines or points deductions that may emerge.
Arsenal lead the Premier League, four points ahead of City, with Liverpool a further four points behind them. The former drew 2-2 with Sunderland last weekend, while the Reds lost to Pep Guardiola's side in his 1,000th match as a manager.
Following those results, City's odds of clinching the title have significantly improved according to bookies. However, that could change and bring Liverpool back into the race if any points deductions or other punishments apply to this current season.
Guardiola has already made his stance clear on the matter. The Catalan coach extended his contract with the club last year, which will now run until at least 2027.
He said this time two years ago: "At the moment we are innocent until it is proven we are guilty. I know the people want it. I know, I feel it.
"I will wait. Wait and see it, and after the sentence has been done, we will come here and explain it.
"But absolutely I will not consider my future (if) it depends on being here or being in League One. Absolutely. There is more chance to stay if we are in League One than if we were in the Champions League."
Arne Slot has scarcely spoken about the charges, aside from joking about them in February. Mohamed Salah claimed after the two teams' meeting at Anfield that it could be his "last against City at home", which prompted Slot to say, "Maybe Mo knows more about the 115 [allegations] that are done, so he expects them not to be in the Premier League next season!"
