Eintracht Frankfurt are smelling a potential bargain at Brentford in the form of midfielder Vitaly Janelt.
That’s [according to Fussball Transfers](https://www.fussballtransfers.com/a890082174657311696-eintracht-dran-janelt-kommt-auf-den-markt), who say the Bundesliga club have set their sights on the Brentford man. And a recent report from England has boosted their chances of getting him.
That report claimed Janelt is expected to leave Brentford next summer when his contract expires. An agreement on an extension has not been reached and is not likely to be either. Indeed, the belief is that Brentford are already looking for a replacement.
That would suit Eintracht. They want a defensive midfielder and Janelt is among their top candidates. They feel that a ‘cost effective transfer coup’ is doable in the January transfer window.
Janelt is free to negotiate a pre-contract for the summer at that point, but Brentford would obviously prefer a fee. That’s where Frankfurt could step up.
[SGE4Ever provide a little more background.](https://www.sge4ever.de/vitaly-janelt-vor-brentford-abgang-schlaegt-die-eintracht-jetzt-zu/) They explain that Frankfurt have long been interested in Janelt. Now the feeling is that the trail towards him is heating up. Eintracht believe that they have ‘legitimate hopes’ of signing him because of his contract situation.
If Brentford want any fee at all, they need to negotiate in January. That gives Eintracht sporting director Markus Krösche an opportunity to secure a deal ‘at an absolute bargain price’.
The feeling at the German club is that they won’t find a more affordable option than him, particularly in January. The door is seen as wide open; all they have to do is make a move and talk to Brentford.
