In case you haven’t been paying attention, the New York Knicks are on fire. After a sluggish 2-3 start to the 2025-26 season, Mike Brown’s team has won five games in a row to improve to 7-3, making some franchise history along the way.
During Tuesday’s 133-120 win over the Memphis Grizzlies, the Knicks scored over 130 points for the third consecutive game — a feat never achieved in their 80-year franchise history. The Knicks had similarly scored over 130 points in their previous two wins over the Brooklyn Nets and Minnesota Timberwolves, both at home.

This season also marks the first time the Knicks have gone 7-0 at home while averaging 125.0 points at Madison Square Garden through such an extended stretch. The Knicks have been so invincible at home that they’ve drubbed teams by an average margin of 17 points, while shooting a staggering 43.1% from three and 47.2% from the field.
The impressive aspect has been the democratic nature of the Knicks’ offense, which was heavily reliant on Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns last year. This season, the Knicks have up to three players averaging over 8.0 points off the bench — Jordan Clarkson, Miles McBride and Josh Hart — along with consistent production from their starting five of Brunson, Towns, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby and Mitchell Robinson.

Best Start in Over a Decade
The 7-3 start marks the Knicks’ best since the 2012-13 season, when they won 54 games and clinched the second seed in the Eastern Conference. It’s likely a safe bet that they will surpass the 54-game tally this year, a year after they won 51 games and reached the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in the 21st century.
While the Knicks’ supporting cast is firing on all cylinders, the team still looks to its captain, Jalen Brunson, for leadership. In Tuesday’s win, for example, the Knicks nearly blew a huge lead in the fourth quarter when the Grizzlies mounted a comeback. However, in typical Brunson fashion, the All-Star guard made two clutch threes in the fourth quarter and went a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line to seal the win.
After the win, The Athletic’s James L. Edwards III noted that Brunson has become “even more unguardable,” citing his ability to thrive off the ball.
“In the offseason, (relocation/catch-and-shoot) 3s is what I worked on,” Brunson said on the tweaks in his offensive game. “The talk was playing off-ball, so why don’t I just work on that? That was a lot of the stuff I did this summer. The ball is going in when I do it.”
Mikal Bridges also explained how Brunson has improved his catch-and-shoot ability.
“I’ve been around him so long and understand how well he can catch-and-shoot,” Bridges said of Brunson. “I feel like I find him the most, him or OG (Anunoby), when I drive because they relocate so well and find the empty space. His catch-and-shoot is ridiculous. He works on it all the time, all day. His numbers might be different because he shoots a lot off the dribble, too.”
