Sometimes, it's okay to be aggressive, but common sense needs to kick in at some point.
The Philadelphia Eagles faced that situation in their 10-7 win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 10, where they had a fourth-and-six at the Packers' 35-yard line with under 30 seconds left. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni appeared to have made the call to go for it, and they called a Jalen Hurts deep ball to A.J. Brown that went incomplete and gave Green Bay a chance. Packers kicker Brandon McManus missed a 64-yard field goal as the Eagles avoided disaster, but the decision to go for it had Philly sports media targeting Sirianni.
It turns out that 97.5 The Fanatic's Bill Colarulo dropped the bomb on the radio the day after the game, stating that it wasn't Sirianni's call. Two other people called the play.
"There were a lot of people, rightfully so, critical of the Eagles' decision to go for it on a fourth-and-six with only 30 seconds left in the game at the Green Bay Packers' 35-yard line. When the ball got snapped and Jalen Hurts threw a bomb to A.J. Brown down the left sideline, I was shocked. I was furious. I said, 'That is a terrible, terrible decision.' However, right before I came on the air, I have been told by multiple, reliable sources that A.J. (Brown) and Jalen (Hurts) went rogue, again."

Per Bill Colarulo, the deep shot on 4th down at the end of the game was not the play called by Nick Sirianni and Kevin Patullo. According to multiple sources, Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown "went rogue" again. #eagles #nfl #football

What was Hurts and Brown thinking if this is true?
When Colarulo said "again" with Hurts and Brown, he was referring to the Eagles' 20-17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks back in 2023. Hurts and Brown did the same thing when they went rogue on a play, calling for a deep ball that ended up being intercepted.
The assumption is that Sirianni covered for Hurts and Brown in the press conference after the game and won't talk about this publicly, regardless of whether this is true or not. If this is true, however, there are a couple of aspects of the situation that Eagles fans will discuss.
One positive? At least Brown and Hurts are on the same page. After the disaster of missing the easy deep ball touchdown pass in the loss to the Denver Broncos earlier in the season, it's nice to at least see them communicating.
The negative? Why would they make that call at that moment? It was apparently the same play call from the fourth down touchdown pass against the Minnesota Vikings a few weeks ago, but that was in the first quarter with plenty of time left. This is with under 30 seconds left with a three-point lead. Not the call to make at that moment.

Sirianni once again might have a nip and tuck issue in the butt before it gets out of hand, but the good part is he is used to it since that's all the last three seasons have been for Philly also, if Sirianni did cover for them, good for him for not throwing Hurts or Brown under the bus.
