Marco Silva is under pressure at Fulham with his contract at Craven Cottage nearing an end.

Fulham are reportedly considering parting ways with manager Marco Silva after a difficult start to the Premier League season that has left the Cottagers in 15th.

talkSPORT claims that the club are ‘weighing up the future’ of Silva with the coach currently set to be a free agent when his current contract expires at the end of the season. The 48-year-old has been outspoken with his frustration over the club’s lack of spending during the summer window.

It’s added that the Fulham hierarchy are concerned that the side could be dragged into a relegation battle this term following the 2-0 defeat to Everton last weekend. The Cottagers are just one point above the relegation zone.

Silva held talks with Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal this summer and had also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest following the two sackings of Ange Postecoglou.

Transfer specialist Graeme Bailey has told Celtic focused outlet 67 Hail Hail that, should Silva leave Craven Cottage, former Liverpool and Leicester City man Brendan Rodgers is ‘in line’ for the job.

Rodgers left his post at Celtic at the end of October after a two-year stint and is available for a return to the dugout. The 52-year-old has plenty of Premier League experience, having overseen 312 matches in the top flight.

What Brendan Rodgers has said about Craven Cottage

The manager has faced Fulham 10 times, winning eight of those games and losing two. Over those matches, Rodgers regularly praised Craven Cottage and how Fulham play.

In May 2013, prior to Liverpool beating Fulham 3-1 on the banks of the Thames, Rodgers admitted that he always travelled to Craven Cottage with caution. He said: "Fulham have been notoriously strong in the last few years at home. They will obviously be disappointed with the [4-2 defeat to Reading] last weekend but I am sure they will come out and want to put on a show in their last home game of the season.

"We know it is going to be tough for us, our objective is to win the game, so we will be committed, intense and look to get the result. It will be a good chance for me to have a look at some players, of course.”

More recently, when being beaten by Fulham with Leicester City in 2020, Rodgers praised the Cottagers’ ‘counter-attacking players’ who ‘punished’ the Foxes. The former Celtic boss has also spoken very positively about Silva, labelling him a ‘fantastic’ coach after he lost his job at Everton.
