Report: Juventus think it will be 'impossible' to sign 'phenomenal' player because of Liverpool

Juventus and Liverpool could be about to go head-to-head for the transfer of a Bundesliga ace this summer.

The Reds have already been linked with several players ahead of the January and summer transfer windows, with most people thinking that Arne Slot will be looking at signing a new centre-back.

However, since the other areas of their team haven’t really been up to scratch either, it doesn’t come as a surprise to see other players, such as Antoine Semenyo, also being linked with an Anfield switch.

Liverpool’s attack has been another area of concern this season, with players such as Mohamed Salah and even Alexander Isak failing to perform to the standards expected of them.

This is why it isn’t a surprise to see Slot willing to go head-to-head with The Old Lady for the addition of a new attacker.

Juventus think that a move for Serge Gnabry will be unlikely due to Liverpool’s interest in him

The next couple of seasons look set to contain squad changes for most clubs across Europe.

Several players from across the globe have their contracts expiring either in 2026 or 2027.

This means that the transfer market will be flooded with free agents, which clubs will no doubt want to take advantage of.

And now, as per a report from Italian outlet La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Liverpool and Juventus are both interested in signing Serge Gnabry.

The Bayern Munich attacker, who was once dubbed “phenomenal” by Rio Ferdinand, has June 2026 as the expiry date of his deal with the Bundesliga giants.

Juventus have already made an ‘exploratory enquiry’ about the German, but their interest already seems to have ‘cooled.’

This is because they’re expecting ‘competition’ from Liverpool, which makes the ‘financial challenge impossible’ for them to think about making a move.

Serge Gnabry could help Liverpool out massively over the next couple of years

Now that Luis Diaz has exited Anfield and has joined Bayern, there’s a spare spot open for a new attacker among Liverpool’s first-team squad.

The left-winger was a key cog in Slot’s plans last term, but, since his contract was set to expire next season and Liverpool didn’t want to offer him an extension, they agreed a fee worth around £65 million to sell him.

Since then, Liverpool fans have agonised over the decision that the Anfield outfit made about Diaz, as the Colombian has only got better.

However, due to Diaz’s arrival, Gnabry has been left on the sidelines more often than he’d like, and although he may be 30 years old, he still has plenty of fight left in him.

The German can play anywhere across the front three, and even though he may not be as fast as he used to be, he still knows where the goal is, while he also has a keen eye for a pass.

His arrival would allow him to use his experience to mentor the next generation of Liverpool academy graduates and perhaps lift some pressure from the shoulders of their current squad.
