Fulham and Newcastle United could battle it out for the signature of 18-year-old Angers SCO attacking sensation Sidiki Cherif.
According to a report from Football Insider, Fulham, Newcastle United, and Sunderland are all keeping tabs on Angers SCO’s Sidiki Cherif ahead of a potential transfer. The youngster’s impressive performances for the Ligue 1 outfit have not gone unnoticed, and all three Premier League clubs could battle it out for his signature.
Cherif has come up the ranks at Angers. The teenage prospect got promoted to their first team in the summer of 2023, and he has only gone from strength to strength since. The 18-year-old striker has made an impressive start to the new season. He has found the back of the net in three out of his last five Ligue 1 outings.
Having bagged goals against giants AS Monaco and Marseille, Cherif has attracted a significant amount of interest from across Europe. While the Guinea-born attacker prefers playing as a nine, he is capable enough to feature on the flanks as well.
Premier League trio are keen on Cherif
Newcastle United, Sunderland, and Fulham are three Premier League clubs that are interested in securing Sidiki Cherif’s services. They have been keeping tabs on the teenager, who is valued at around £22 million.
The Black Cats have strong links to French football through Regis Le Bris and their owner, Kyril Louis-Dreyfus, and they could look to use those to good effect to land the 18-year-old at the club.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United and Fulham could also battle it out for Cherif’s signature. The Tyneside club are constantly on the lookout for young players with massive potential, and Cherif has caught the eye of their scout.
Newcastle United consider him a great option for the long run, and they could make a significant investment in him. The same goes for Fulham. While the Cottagers have faced a lot of frustration in recent windows, they are eager to put it all behind them and are working towards a potential deal for the Angers attacker.
The Ligue 1 outfit are unlikely to sanction a winter transfer, unless there is a massive offer on the table. They are in complete control of his future, having extended his stay last year with a new deal that runs until 2028.
