Alex Greenwood says she’s enjoying the tutelage of City Head Coach Andrée Jeglertz, who she says has challenged her in a healthy way.
The Swede arrived at the Joie Stadium ahead of the 2025/26 campaign following an illustrious coaching career spanning over two decades.
So far, he’s presided over 10 matches at the Club, winning eight and losing just one of those assignments, with City top of the WSL table.
But it’s his openness away from the field which Greenwood has hailed, with her comments coming after our captain signed a contract extension which will keep her at the Joie Stadium until the summer of 2027.

She also detailed how his way of working has allowed her to think about the game differently than she has done previously.
And on her relationship with Jeglertz the England international explained: “Really good, really healthy, really open.
“He’s someone I can go to about pretty much anything to be fair, but he’s the same with everyone.
“It’s not just me because I’m the captain, his door is open for everyone to go have a conversation. Of course, we probably speak naturally a little bit more about many different things.
“So far, he’s been great and he’s challenged me in lots of things I maybe hadn’t thought about before. He’s been really challenging in ways of how to approach the team in different ways and taken a step back in other ways.

“It’s been really good, really positive and we take each week and game as it comes.
“Before the international break we were playing really well. There’s still so much that we want to improve on, but when change happens things look a bit differently.
“There’s been some obvious changes and some subtle changes as well but I think the team has adapted so well and picked up things Andrée wants to do quickly and there’s a sense of freedom around the team.
“I know that’s a feeling within the group and it’s a really positive feeling and we’re demanding from each other so much every single day.
“But if you want to be champions and winners then you’ve got to set standards every single day and that’s what we’re doing here at the moment.”
