Why rugby star's Garnacho look and first touch failed to impress Hurzeler

England rugby star Henry Pollock was told his Alejandro Garnacho look failed to impress Fabian Hurzeler.

And his corners weren’t much better either.

The Northampton back row was among the men who got the round ball out when [Albion](https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/albion/?ref=au)’s head coach visited their training session at Pennyhill Park.

He took notes and spoke to coaches and players as they began a week of preparation before facing the All Blacks.

Pollock and Alex Coles took the chance to show off their corner-taking ability.

Asked whether Pollock was trying to impress, scrum-half Alex Mitchell said: “I think he was but his first touch was dreadful!

“I think he has gone for the Garnacho look so I don’t know if he will get any rewards from that!

“There are loads of things (to learn). The skills set and the hand-eye.

“The strategies and the way you see the game.

“There are so many different things that you can learn from each other.

“We always have football players in here and I think a few of our coaches also go and see football teams and stuff.”

Asked how the football went in front of Hurzeler, flanker San Underhill added: “I’m not sure. It didn’t look too good.

“I think fortunately they are all very good rugby players so they have still got their purpose!”

Hurzeler was followed to the England camp by tennis star Emma Raducanu, who gave advice on how to deal with pressure ahead of Saturday’s clash at Allianz Stadium.

“Emma watched training today and then we did a few bits after,” rookie prop Fin Baxter said.

“She did a bit of kicking with Marcus (Smith). Maro (Itoje) was chatting to her and we were all drifting off, letting two big dogs of their sports talk.

“Then it was, ‘Fin, Will (Stuart), come on, Emma wants to do a lineout with you’. So we did the lineout. She was very good – and caught the ball.”
