NFL: Takeaways from Week 10 in the NFC West

With two divisional matchups in Week 9, only two NFC West teams were going to emerge with the victory. In what’s been a very competitive division, though, each game was surprisingly one-sided. The Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks emerged with victories in resounding fashion. Have no fear, as we have you covered with some Week 10 NFC West takeaways.

Lawrence Has a Day

Recovering one fumble in a game in a game is a big deal, but two is taking it to the next level. The same can be said for a defensive touchdown. Having a defense having two fumble recoveries for a touchdown in a season isn’t a guarantee, let alone seeing it twice in the same game. But what if it’s the same player? DeMarcus Lawrence single-handedly took care of business for Seattle with two fumble returns for a touchdown. It goes without saying that Lawrence truly changed to complexion of the game.

Efficiency Was King

We know that DeMarcus Lawrence had a dominant game, but the Seahawks still scored 30 points. Sam Darnold was the only quarterback who played for Seattle, but he only attempted 12 passes. He completed 10 of them for a whopping 178 yards and a touchdown. We know that Darnold is capable of more, but this week, he didn’t need it.

Harrison Can’t Find Consistency

It was a game that required Arizona to take to the air to keep up. After all, Jacoby Brissett threw the ball 44 times. The problem, though, is that he only completed 22 passes was a problem. Even worse, though, is the continued inconsistencies of Marvin Harrison. After a strong week, Harrison was incredibly inefficient. He was targeted 12 times, but only managed to catch three passes for 33 yards.

McBride Came Through

We know that the Cardinals had to play catch-up this week in what was an ugly loss. The one bright spot, though, was Trey McBride as he took full advantage of the situation. McBride was targeted 13 times, and he turned that into nine catches for 127 yards and a touchdown.

Four is the Number

At this point, it almost feels like a foregone conclusion. Once again, Matthew Stafford threw for four touchdowns in what was an easy Los Angeles Rams victory. Stafford connected with four different receivers. If the Rams needed more, Stafford was in position to deliver as the Rams still sit in first place.

The Rams Took to the Ground

Getting out to an early lead truly helped here. The Rams didn’t need to ask much more than they did from the passing game. Instead, Kyren Williams had 14 carries, and that was followed by Blake Corum with 13 carries. They combined for 129 rushing yards as the Rams were able to control the tempo of the game.

Another Rough Day for CMC

Try as he might, Christian McCaffrey just can’t get going on the ground this season. The flow of the game didn’t do McCaffrey any favors this week, but he wasn’t able to get going on his 12 carries. He finished with 30 yards and with a long run of only five yards. However, once again, it wasn’t a lost day as he caught eight passes for 66 yards.

Kittle is Back

The San Francisco 49ers had to take to the air this week, but the good news is that George Kittle truly appeared to be in midseason form. Last week, Kittle was the leading receiver for San Francisco as he caught all nine of his targets for 84 yards and a touchdown. His continued success will be a huge piece for the 49ers offense as they are becoming increasingly one-dimensional.
