**The Newcastle United fanbase is going through one of those times again when you have some who can see the benefits of a long term vision, and others who want immediate change at any cost, warring online.**
It's always worth remembering that we're all on the same side, ultimately. We all want the club to do well, so while it's fine to have differing opinions on the next steps for the club, there's no need to take things to a personal level, which we see all too often on sites like X.
Take, for example, this one fan who phoned in to TalkSPORT with Ally McCoist and Jeff Stelling to state that he doesn't feel Eddie Howe is ruthless enough and has taken the club as far as he can.
We don't agree with that statement at all, especially given that it's not the first time we've heard this about Howe, and this was the rhetoric a year ago, before he delivered us our first major trophy in over 50 years. But that's also not to say that the caller didn't make some valid points to state his case.

Ally McCoist was the voice of reason when it came to Eddie Howe's future at Newcastle
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thankfully, Ally McCoist was on hand to be the voice of reason, although he did initially agree with the caller.
> "I take your point. Where I would disagree with you, I'm not even sure you've stood still, I'd say you might even have taken a little step back, but I still think Eddie is the man to take the next two steps forward.

> "It's not just because he has the credit in the bank, which I also think he has, I just think he knows the club. And when you get one or two players back, I think Newcastle will turn the corner, I really do."
Eddie Howe will pull us out of the mire
---------------------------------------
The caller lost us after that, though, by saying that our recruitment has been terrible and none of our summer signings are any good. That's just pure emotion talking.
We do agree that Howe does tend to have his favourites, and that is, and always has been, a problem, but what manager doesn't? If we sack Howe, what's to say our next manager doesn't latch on to a player we don't like and plays them over what we deem to be a better option?
Eddie Howe will get us out of this mess, he always does, and then when he does, we'll go on a run that makes us all forget that this was even a thing. How do we know this? History tells us that's what happens. We've had blips every season under Howe and always pulled off some form of miracle come the end of the season.
