After a busy offseason, the Boston Celtics have returned to action and posted a 5-7 record through their first 12 games. With a serious talent drain taking place over the past few months, head coach Joe Mazzulla has been working on finding a way to get the most out of his team. While the C’s have shaken up their roster quite significantly as of late, more moves could be on the horizon. Several trade candidates have already emerged this season, with one of them being Dallas Mavericks forward Anthony Davis. The Mavs acquired Davis as part of a blockbuster trade with the Los Angeles Lakers that sent Luka Doncic the other way. And while Davis is incredibly talented, many folks believe that this is one of the worst trades in NBA history. This deal ended up costing general manager Nico Harrison his job with Dallas on Tuesday. And now that he’s gone, rumors have already begun to emerge suggesting that the Mavericks could look to trade Davis. “There’s going to be Anthony Davis trade talks of some seriousness,” NBA insider Zach Lowe said on “The Zach Lowe Show.” “Whether they result in a deal or not is impossible to say. I would bet on yes.” Story continues below advertisement During his time with the New Orleans Pelicans, Davis was an oft-mentioned trade target for the Celtics. A deal never ended up getting done, though, as Davis was dealt to the Lakers before landing with the Mavs. In five games this season, Davis is averaging 20.8 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 52% from the field. Should the Mavs decide to trade him, Davis would undoubtedly draw significant interest across the league. Whether or not the Celtics would try to make another move for Davis remains to be seen, but their previous interest in him is worth keeping tabs on. After Boston suffered a 102-100 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night, it will be back in action on Wednesday night for a clash with the Memphis Grizzlies.
