'Problem' - Ally McCoist criticises Leeds United rival manager

Leeds United boss Daniel Farke loves a hostile football ground

The former Rangers striker is unhappy with the man set to take charge of Premier League strugglers Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The former Wolves defender signalled his intent to hold talks with his old club after an initial approach to Championship promotion contenders Middlesbrough was rebuffed last weekend. A compensation package was eventually agreed and Edwards is now believed to be on the brink of returning to the club where he made a century of appearances during his playing career.

The 42-year-old actually spent time in interim charge of Wolves in 2016 after the Molineux club parted company with Italy legend Walter Zenga but his first permanent steps into the main role in the dugout came with non-league clubs AFC Telford United and Forest Green Rovers. A short stint with Watford preceded a successful spell with Luton Town as Edwards led the Hatters to successive promotions from League One to the Premier League before they returned to the Championship after a one-year stay in the top flight.

Edwards was named as Middlesbrough boss in the summer and had led the Riverside Stadium club into second place in the Championship during his first four months in charge - but it now seems inevitable he will be in charge of Wolves when they host Crystal Palace on the other side of the international break. Former Rangers and Scotland striker Ally McCoist has discussed the controversial circumstances surrounding Edwards’ decision to swap life in the North East for a return to his old club and spotted one aspect of the move that has left him unhappy.

He told talkSPORT: “The deal that I’ve got there with Rob Edwards is he signed that contract, right? Absolutely, I think you should honour it, because as soon as you sign the contract, if you’re happy to sign a three year contract, it doesn’t matter if you’re a manager or a player, you think to yourself, well, that’s where I’m going to be for the next three years. That’s the first thing you have to get in your head, right?”

“But whether it’s a manager like Rob Edwards or a player like Isak, you’ve got a problem if you’re the owner of the club or indeed the manager of the club with Isak, if somebody says, I want to leave, right? I mean, that’s where I’ve got a problem.”
