Many NBA fans are celebrating after the Dallas Mavericks finally decided to fire former general manager Nico Harrison on Tuesday, but more details are emerging about just how bad things were getting behind the scenes for the Western Conference franchise.

The Mavericks have struggled massively to start the 2025-26 NBA season after winning just three of their first 11 games, but Harrison’s firing gave the Dallas fanbase a reason to celebrate as they continue to recover from the stinging trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers last season.

According to NBA reporter Tim Cato, Harrison’s influence in the front office included him even placing “Jrue Holliday within the same tier of talent as Nikola Jokic” in a scouting document that was circulated amongst executives with the Mavericks.
Jokic, a three-time NBA MVP, has tormented Dallas and other Western Conference teams for years, while Holliday has certainly been a quality player for a variety of franchises but certainly doesn’t rank amongst the elite the way that the Serbian does.

With Harrison now looking for a new gig in basketball though, the former GM hilariously updated his Instagram bio Tuesday after the Mavericks canned him.
