Patrick Bamford enters talks with Leeds United's rivals after 2025 exit

Former Leeds United favourite Patrick Bamford has entered talks with a new club, but it might not go down well with some supporters.

Patrick Bamford departed Leeds United after seven years at the club this past summer when his contract expired and was not renewed.

The 32-year-old striker departed Elland Road with well-wishes from supporters, who still hold him in high regard, especially for his return of 17 goals upon the club’s return to the Premier League in 2020-2021.

Sadly, injuries derailed Bamford’s latter seasons with the club, and he was unable to score in 18 appearances last term.

He has been without a club since the summer but is now reportedly in talks with one of Leeds’ fiercest rivals, Sheffield United.

Patrick Bamford in talks with Sheffield United after leaving Leeds

Telegraph reporter Mike McGrath reported on X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday afternoon that Bamford has opened talks over a shock move to Sheffield United.

In his post, McGrath said: “Patrick Bamford in talks with Sheffield United, according to sources at the club.”

The news comes as a particular surprise as, during Leeds’ celebrations after securing promotion in the 6-0 rout over Stoke City in April, Bamford was filmed starting a chant that insulted Blades boss Chris Wilder.

After losing last season’s Play-off final to Sunderland, Sheffield United have suffered a terrible start to the new season and still sit in the relegation zone in 22nd place.
