Mike Kafka’s first order of business as interim head coach of the Giants is to make a quarterback plan for Week 11 in the wake of Jaxson Dart’s injury.
According to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, Jameis Winston will be named the starter for the Giants for their game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
Per Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Winston will start in the event that Dart does not clear concussion protocol.
If Dart does clear protocol, he will start with Winston — not Russell Wilson — as his backup.
Wilson was 3 of 7 for 45 yards when he came in during the Week 10 loss to the Bears.
Dart suffered a concussion in that loss. Toward the end of the third quarter, he was slow to get up after he was hit by Bears safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, leading to a fumble that the Bears recovered. It was the fourth time this season that the rookie was tested for a concussion.
