The New York Giants will have a new starting quarterback in Week 11 if Jaxson Dart (concussion) is ruled out.

Jameis Winston has been named as the Giants’ No. 2 quarterback, moving ahead of Russell Wilson in advance of New York’s Week 11 game against the Green Bay Packers.

Interim head coach Mike Kafka made the decision to promote Winston, who is yet to feature for the Giants this regular season, in the aftermath of head coach Brian Daboll’s firing on Monday morning.

Daboll was let go following the Giants’ late collapse against the Chicago Bears in which Dart left the game with a concussion and was replaced by Wilson.

Leading 17-10 at the time of Dart’s injury, the Giants conceded two touchdowns in the final six minutes of the game to lose 24-20 for their fourth straight defeat.

Dart has not officially been ruled out for Week 11 against Green Bay, but if he is, it will be Winston under center, a welcome sight to Giants fans who have been eager to see the gunslinger in Big Blue.

Winston’s insertion into the lineup adds a new and interesting element to the Giants’ offense and fantasy football options.

First off, Winston himself could be a streaming option (meaning you start him for just this week) in your fantasy team if you are in need of a spark. The former Buccaneers, Saints, and Browns QB is known for his high-risk, high-reward style of play in which he can and will make any throw on the field.

This is uncommon for most quarterbacks, especially those gunning for more playing time.

It’s also the play style that saw Winston throw 33 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in the same season and lead the Browns to a massive upset win over the Baltimore Ravens last year.

It also elevates the fantasy ceilings of Giants skill players such as Wan’Dale Robinson, Darius Slayton, Theo Johnson, and Tyrone Tracy Jr.

All four players are worthy of a spot in your starting lineup for Week 11, which they wouldn’t have been if Wilson was named starter over Winston.

In 10 professional seasons and 87 career starts, Winston has thrown 148 touchdowns (1.7 per game) and 105 interceptions (1.2 per game), while averaging 269.6 passing yards per game.

Since entering the league in 2015, Winston has 19 career games with three or more passing touchdowns, including two games with five pass TD.

Unfortunately for Winston and the Giants, one of the NFL’s best defenses in Green Bay is coming to town in Week 11. The Packers allow just 19.6 points per game (7th in NFL) and 195.4 passing yards per game (11th in NFL) this season.
