Champions League club suffer blow in pursuit of £55,000-a-week Newcastle United wide man

Newcastle United defender Emil Krafth has been linked with a move away from the Tyneside club in recent weeks.

Emil Krafth will be out of contract at the end of the season, and Newcastle United are prepared to cash in on him in January. FC Copenhagen are interested in securing his signature, but in a conversation with Fotboll Direkt the player’s agent has ruled out a move to the Danish club.

His agent revealed, “It’s not relevant. FCK is a great club, but his salary is far too high for any club in Scandinavia. But then it’s also about Newcastle not wanting to let him go.”

The Swedish full-back, who pockets £55,000-a-week wages at Newcastle United, back does not have a future at the English club, and he should look to move on in search of regular playing time. The links with FC Copenhagen came at an ideal time, and a move could have been ideal for him.

It will be interesting to see what he decides. Sitting on the bench at Newcastle United will not benefit him. He should look to play more often at this stage of his career. The Tyneside outfit will not be able to provide him with that opportunity. However, his £55,000-a-week wages will scupper a winter move.

Meanwhile, the Swede’s contract comes to an end in the summer, and Newcastle should look to get rid of the player for a reasonable amount of money in January. It remains to be seen how the situation unfolds. Perhaps, Newcastle United are worried about losing the player in the middle of the season because they are lacking in depth in the defensive unit.

However, Valentino Livramento and Kieran Trippier should be able to get them through the season, and selling Krafth in January would be ideal. There is no doubt that the Swedish defender is a quality player. He could be a valuable option in the right team. He should look to secure a move away from Newcastle United quickly.

The experienced full-back is very much at the peak of his career, and he should look to join a club where he will be a valued member of the first team. Regular football could bring out the best in him once again and help him regain his confidence. However, with his £55,000-a-week wages posing a problem, a deal may not materialise.
