**Liverpool target Dayot Upamecano has said he is still in the process of deciding whether he will leave Bayern Munich next summer.**
The Frenchman is out of contract at the end of the season, and asked for an update on his future whilst away on international duty, the defender replied:
“My agent is taking care of it. We will make the right decision, and I’m receiving good advice. So I am just focused on this season and my goals with the club and with the national team. I don’t have headspace for the rest.”
Based on Upamecano’s response, it seems he is open to moving to another club when his current deal expires in June.

[**Reports**](https://walkon.com/blog/liverpool-transfer-news-dayot-upamecano/) in the German media back in September confirmed that Arne Slot’s side are one of Upamecano’s possible destinations if he decides to reject a new contract from Bayern.
Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Manchester United are also said to be keeping a close eye on the player’s situation.
With their being doubts over the future of Ibrahima Konate, whose contract also expires next year, it is not a surprise that the Reds are involved in the battle for his France international teammate.
Upamecano can begin talks with foreign clubs very soon

As of January 1st, the 27-year-old will have permission to talk directly with teams outside of Germany about signing a pre-contract agreement. That is roughly just six weeks from now.
Of course, it’s likely that discussions have already taken place via informal channels, and Liverpool may already know whether Upamecano is open to a switch to Anfield. In any case, it does appear as if the Frenchman will be in high demand over the coming months.
