Arda Guler’s ability to play in big games has come under question in recent times owing to his relatively inferior physicality and ability to get overpowered in that sense.
Barring a few unconvincing displays on big nights, however, the youngster has been absolutely fantastic for Real Madrid in every sense of the word.
Guler has developed a special partnership with Kylian Mbappe which has flourished and led the team’s attacking department.
In fact, he already has three goals and six assists to his name this season and has been one of the team’s most improved players under Xabi Alonso.
Kroos’ thoughts on Guler
Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos spoke to the media in a recent interaction where he gave his thoughts on Guler’s potential to develop into one of the best players in his position.
“I’m glad that this year he’s having significantly more minutes, because he’s earned it and he’s a guy who can be trusted for the future,” he said.

The German star then explained why he felt Guler had something special in his boots and how the Turkish star’s role on the field compared to the position Kroos played in during his days at the club.
“He is a different type of player from me. His best position is clearly more offensive than mine, so it’s not about being my successor at all.”
“But usually I’m happy because he’s a good boy. I could still play with him. He has a really fine touch, which this season he has already been able to take advantage of very effectively for Madrid,” he added, praising the young star.
Finally, the former player hoped Guler’s prominence would stay the same or even improve as the season progresses, saying,
“That’s why I hope he continues to have minutes constantly, because that’s the only way he can improve. And I’m sure he will be able to mark an era in Madrid for many years.”
