Malick Thiaw's performances for Newcastle United recently have seen the 24-year-old reinstated to the Germany international squad by Julian Nagelsmann.
The former AC Milan defender has three caps to his name already, but his last appearance for Germany was in October 2023 in a friendly against Mexico.
His form at Milan was never deemed good enough to get back into the national set-up, with many pundits citing his inconsistency as a big issue.
So far for Newcastle, he has been one of the more consistent bright spots in what is proving to be a tricky season, and that form has seen Julian Nagelsmann give him another shot on the big stage.

Malick Thiaw is loving his chant from the Newcastle fans
While on international duty, Thiaw has been speaking to Sky Deutschland, where he'd already spoken about feeling he made the right decision to join Newcastle in the summer, but one thing that seems to have cemented that feeling for him is the fact that he has his own chant already.
“I know the lyrics, they’re fantastic. I’ve never had a song like this before in my career. I was surprised when I first heard it.
“My teammates then told me, without downplaying it, that it’s quite common in England. Even so, it was wonderful for me. I first heard the song at an away game when I was standing in front of the stands. I’ll never forget that moment.”

Obviously, a player having their own chant is nothing new to players in England, but we never really think about how it must feel for the players hearing it for the first time, especially if they've just come from a country where it's not commonplace.
Anything that makes him feel like he belongs is good, though. He's proven to be a talent that is definitely going to be worth hanging onto.
