Injuries continue to pile up in the Arizona Cardinals’ wide receiver room, as four of the six receivers on the active roster are dealing with injuries. Zay Jones suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in Week 10 against the Seattle Seahawks. Meanwhile, Simi Fehoko exited the game with an arm injury and is expected to miss some time, while Xavier Weaver sat out due to an ankle injury.

According to Ian Rapoport, Marvin Harrison Jr. recently underwent surgery for appendicitis. As a result, the No. 1 wide receiver will miss Week 11 against the San Francisco 49ers and could be sidelined for multiple weeks. Although the recovery time for appendicitis varies, Harrison could miss anywhere from one to four weeks.

Marvin Harrison Jr.’s absence negatively impacts the Cardinals’ offense, as he is one of their top receivers. He is currently second on the team in targets, with 62, trailing only Trey McBride, and has 24 more than Michael Wilson, the No. 3 option. Harrison also draws the top cornerback from opposing defenses and sometimes safety help, which creates more opportunities for McBride and others. Lastly, he is the team’s second option in the red zone, with nine targets resulting in six receptions for 44 yards and all four of his touchdowns.
Who must step up?
Arizona Cardinals, Michael Wilson Jr.
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Wilson (14) is tackled by New York Jets cornerback D.J. Reed (4) after a catch during the third quarter at State Farm Stadium in Glendale on Nov. 10, 2024.
The Cardinals must rely on Michael Wilson, Greg Dortch, and, once healthy, Xavier Weaver to step up, while Trey McBride is expected to receive the lion’s share of the targets. The team could also promote Andre Baccellia, Tejhaun Palmer, and Jalen Brooks to the active roster. So far this season, Brooks has been elevated for gameday once, as Palmer and Baccellia have yet to be elevated.
