West Ham’s Cheeky Bid For Unhappy Tottenham Flop

West Ham are reportedly considering a surprise move for Tottenham winger Manor Solomon this January, according to a report from the Spanish media.

The Israel international is currently on loan at Villarreal, but things haven’t gone to plan in Spain. Solomon is said to be struggling to settle and frustrated with a lack of minutes, according to El Periodico Mediterraneo, and he has now asked Spurs to terminate the loan early so he can return to England.

That’s where West Ham come in. With Nuno Espírito Santo desperate for more pace and creativity out wide, Solomon could offer a fresh option and the Irons boss is said to be interested although it’s always difficult to validate that claim. As ever, C&H will check with our own transfer sources but we have been informed Nuno is looking for a forward who can play across the front three.

David Sullivan would not have to deal with Daniel Levy

Solomon’s struggles in Spain contrast with Leeds success

Solomon’s current form is a far cry from last season, where he enjoyed a hugely productive loan spell at Leeds United, scoring 10 goals and providing 12 assists in the Championship. His ability to cut in from wide areas, beat defenders, and create chances was a big part of Leeds’ attacking threat.

Whether a deal can be struck remains to be seen. Historically, West Ham’s dealings with Tottenham Hotspur have been complicated — though with Daniel Levy no longer in charge and the summer sale of Mohammed Kudus to Spurs reportedly going through smoothly, relations may have thawed.

With Luis Guilherme likely to leave in January and Adama Traoré strongly linked, Solomon could offer a more technical and creative profile fit. It’s been clear from reading the comments on earlier posts that the arrival of Traore – even for a nominal fee – would not be universally popular.
