Failing up: Could this be the next landing spot for Brian Daboll after Giants disaster?

Nick Wright thinks Brian Daboll’s downfall with the Giants could actually set him up for a promotion.

The FS1 host floated a scenario in which Daboll, after being fired in New York, could fail upward and replace Sean McDermott as head coach of the Buffalo Bills — reuniting with quarterback Josh Allen.

After claiming that Allen “loves” Daboll, Wright painted a scenario that would have Giants fans’ heads spinning.

“Now the reporting from Tyler Dunn is that ... Daboll and McDermott didn’t really get along great, and that even if Daboll hadn’t gotten the head coaching job, that he might have left Buffalo,” Wright says in a clip shared on X/Twitter. “If you’re right about Buffalo, and they are one-and-done in the playoffs, and they decide they have to move off McDermott, is it crazy the idea that Josh Allen might say, ‘Hey, let Brian Daboll be my head coach here? Not my offensive coordinator, my head coach here?’

“I think there is a scenario where this actually works out really well for Daboll. I’m not, you know, picking that, but I think it’s on the board if Buffalo has the type of season that you think they could have.”

Bill’s ownership should proceed with caution if this scenario becomes a possibility.

Under Daboll, the Giants were 2-8 this year after going 3-14 in 2024 and 6-11 in 2023. It resulted in Daboll’s job, not general manager Joe Schoen, for a reason — ownership lost faith in the head coach after several missteps.
