Liverpool have been linked with a sensational January swoop for Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo.
Big transfers rarely take place during the winter window, and Semenyo has been Bournemouth’s standout performer so far this season.
The Reds are enduring a poor season by their usual standards, with Arne Slot’s defending champions losing five of their first 11 Premier League matches.
Things looked promising early on when Liverpool won their opening five games, but they have since suffered five defeats in their last six league fixtures.
Antoine Semenyo, 25, impressed last season with 11 goals and was rewarded with a new contract over the summer – a deal believed to include a release clause.
The Ghanaian forward has already scored six goals and provided three assists in just 12 appearances this season, including two against Liverpool, sparking renewed speculation about his future.
Several top clubs are reportedly interested in Semenyo despite many of them strengthening their attacking options over the summer.
While details of his release clause remain undisclosed, it’s understood that his five-year deal could make him available for a set fee.
Sky Sports reporter Mark McAdam has provided the latest update on Semenyo’s situation, claiming that the striker has not asked to leave Bournemouth, contrary to recent speculation.
McAdam posted on X: “Antoine Semenyo has not asked to leave Bournemouth.
“He’s fully focused on performing for the team. That’s it. That’s the tweet.”
Arsenal were linked with the London-born star last season, but after signing Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke, and Viktor Gyokeres, that interest has cooled.
Spurs were also mentioned, but signed his Ghana teammate Mohammed Kudus.
Manchester United remain linked despite spending £200m on attackers, while Liverpool were also active in the market.
