Tyler Morton has made an impressive start to life in France following his summer move from Liverpool to Lyon.
The 22-year-old left Anfield at the end of the summer transfer window in search of regular playing time.
Despite his departure, Morton spoke highly of former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, crediting him for believing in his talent, handing him both his Premier League and Champions League debuts, and arranging loan spells to aid his development.
Morton found it difficult to establish himself as a first-team regular at Liverpool, making just 14 appearances across all competitions.
He spent time on loan in the Championship with Hull City and Blackburn Rovers before moving to France.
Earlier this year, Morton was also part of the England Under-21 squad that won the European Championship.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot strengthened his squad heavily over the summer, spending more than £400million on new additions following their 2024–25 Premier League title triumph.
To comply with the league’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), the club needed to move on several players, including some academy graduates.
Since joining Lyon, Morton has made 15 appearances in all competitions – including four in Europe – and has already scored his first goal for the club.
The midfielder has settled quickly under Paulo Fonseca and is becoming a key part of Lyon’s setup.
However, his strong performances have not gone unnoticed.
According to Jeunes Footeux, Crystal Palace are monitoring Morton closely as they plan for the possible departure of midfielder Adam Wharton, who is attracting interest from other clubs ahead of a potential 2026 exit.
The French outlet also claims that Lyon would prefer to keep Morton beyond this season, but given their financial situation, they could be tempted to sell if a substantial offer arrives.
