The Los Angeles Chargers have a significant injury concern going into their Week 11 contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars and it comes in the form of tight end Oronde Gadsden.
Gadsden suffered what was initially called a knee injury during the Week 10 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, which forced his early exit from the contest.
It goes without saying losing Gadsden would be a blow to the Chargers' offense, as the fifth-round rookie tight end has become a huge part of the unit since he began ascending in Week 6.
Here's what we know about Gadsden's chances of suiting up in Week 11.
Oronde Gadsden injury update
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Gadsden is actually dealing with a bruised quadriceps and is considered day to day.
"Chargers TE Oronde Gadsden’s MRI today revealed a quad bruise that now will have him, per a source, 'day to day,'" Schefter reported.
The Chargers will release their first injury report of the week on Wednesday, so we'll know more about Gadsden then.
Will Oronde Gadsden play in Week 11?
Based on the fact that he's just day to day, Gadsden has a realistic chance to play on Sunday afternoon, but we wouldn't expect to have an answer until Friday, at the earliest.
If Gadsden ends up drawing a questionable tag, it could go all the way up until the inactives lists being dropped an hour and a half before kickoff.
If Gadsden can't go, the Chargers will be forced to lean more on Tyler Conklin and/or Will Dissly, both of whom have seen reduced roles with Gadsden's emergence.
For our fantasy football folks out there, neither one would be a viable starting option.
