FC Barcelona continue to monitor young talent across the globe, particularly in the South American region, to unearth the next biggest star in football.
The Blaugrana also have scouts monitoring players at the ongoing U-17 World Cup in their bid to identify breakthrough prospects and sign them before other clubs do.
Barcelona monitoring Thomas de Martis
As such, journalist Albert Fernandez of GOL reports that Barcelona are closely monitoring 17-year-old Argentine striker Thomas de Martis.
The centre-forward plies his trade for Lanus in Argentina and is currently a part of the Albiceleste national team at the U-17 World Cup underway in Qatar.
De Martis has made two senior appearances for Lanus, while playing 19 games for their reserve team, in which he has scored two goals.

As for his numbers for the Argentine U-17 team, the teenage striker has nine goals in 14 matches, although he is yet to open his account at the U-17 World Cup.
The striker did finish as the top scorer at the U-17 South American Championship earlier this year, bagging six goals in the competition.
De Martis has a contract with Lanus that runs until 31 December 2027, having signed a new deal with the Argentine outfit earlier this year.
As per the report, Barcelona’s interest in the youngster has been present for months now, and they continue to follow him closely. Whether that leads to a move in the near future remains to be seen.
It must be noted that De Martis will be able to move to Europe next summer as he will be turning 18 years old in June 2026.
