Everton need a new striker this January, and have been heavily linked to Franculino Dju.

However, reports now suggest that FC Midtjylland are set to demand a Danish record fee for the attacker after his sensational start to the season.

To date, the 21-year-old has netted 19 goals in all competitions, including 14 in 14 Danish Superliga matches.

However, despite Everton pursuing Dju for months, the transfer now appears harder than ever.

West Ham join race for Franculino Dju

Everton have been eyeing Dju since the summer transfer window.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

While they did not choose to make a move for the attacker, their interest has remained strong, with Toffees scouts recently being spotted at FC Midtjylland matches.

Now, more teams have started to take notice of Dju as he continues his scoring streak.

Dju is a current international with Guinea-Bissau

The striker has netted three times in the Europa League this season including once past Celtic last week

Everton have been keen on Dju for some time

According to The Mirror on 12 November, West Ham have now joined the race, with a host of clubs including Villarreal and Como tracking his development.

While the FC Midtjylland manager, Mike Tullberg, has recently claimed Dju won’t leave mid-season, this was not ruled out by the report.

If he does depart, the Danish side are expected to demand a record fee that could surpass the £22million plus £4m package FC Nordsjaelland received for Ghanaian attacker Ernest Nuamah in 2023.

Therefore, it is clear that David Moyes has overseen a massive transfer blunder.

Not only may Everton have to pay an inflated fee for the striker if they want him, but they may now miss out on him altogether.

If Moyes had just made a move in the summer and signed the striker, this would have been avoided, and could have ended the Toffees’ need for a new attacker.

Now, the Scotsman may have just cost the Merseyside club millions.

Which other strikers are Everton linked to?

Alongside Dju, Everton are also linked with Joshua Zirkzee and Ivan Toney.

A new striker is a must in January, given Beto’s and Thierno Barry’s woes; therefore, Moyes reportedly has multiple targets.

However, it remains to be seen if these are able to solve this growing problem at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Hopefully, come January, Everton will have a clear target in mind and are able to get a deal over the line.
