Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers had one of his worst games in years, but Mike Tomlin isn’t worried

PITTSBURGH --Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin acknowledged quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ struggles against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, but says he has no long-term concerns about the four-time MVP.

“I’m not going to chalk it up to an ‘off’ night, but there are no long-term concerns,” Tomlin said. “Sunday night was what it was, but I have no long-term reservations about his ability to play the position and play the position at a high level.”

Rodgers, who was 16 of 31 for 151 yards along with a touchdown and two interceptions, said that he missed a few throws that he should have made.

“I expect to play great every single week, and this was not my best performance,” Rodgers said. “I got to play better. Whatever it takes. If it’s better checks, if it’s better throws. Whatever it is, I got to play better. We got to bounce back. We got a division opponent next week. We’re 5-4, we’re an ahead by a game in the division. We got to play better on offense for sure.”

Rodgers added that some receivers did not get open on a few plays, and the run game sputtered in the first half, which was something else that Rodgers specifically zeroed in on as well.

Even still, the missed opportunities for Rodgers could have flipped the game and given the Steelers another signature win in the AFC playoff race.
