Everton's new Hill Dickinson Stadium will host five matches at UEFA Euro 28
Everton chief executive Angus Kinnear has described Hill Dickinson Stadium being awarded five matches at the 2028 European Championships as “a landmark in the club’s history” - as the scenario required for England to play at the ground is explained.
– to be known as ‘ Stadium’ for the duration of the tournament due to a ban on sponsors’ names – will host a last-16 knockout clash as well as four group games.
The group games will take place on Sunday, June 11, 2028 (Group D team 3 v Group D team 4); Wednesday, June 14, 2028 (Group A team 2 v Group A team 4); Saturday, June 17, 2028 (Group E team 2 v Group E team 4) and Tuesday, June 20, 2028 (Group C team 2 v Group C team 3). The last-16 fixture will be on Saturday, June 24, 2028.
Kinnear, who took up his role as Everton CEO on May 12 this year after departing a similar post at Leeds United, said: “This is a proud moment for Everton and for our new waterfront home.
“Our stadium was designed to host the biggest moments in sport, and to see it formally part of the venue schedule for UEFA Euro 2028 is a landmark in the club’s history.
“The tournament will showcase the best of our city and our new stadium to millions of people around the world. It will also deliver a significant economic boost for Liverpool City Region, bringing new visitors, new spend and new profile to the waterfront and the wider economy.
“We look forward to working closely with UEFA, UK & Ireland 2028, the city region and our partners to deliver an unforgettable experience for supporters and for football.”

The city of Liverpool’s logo features the iconic Royal Liverpool Building, which was built in 1911 and is known for its distinctive five-and-a-half metre tall Liver Birds perched atop its towers, which watch over the inhabitants of the city and all those who arrive by sea.
The tournament match schedule has also been revealed and if England qualify then they will be placed in Group B and play their first game at Manchester City and then their next two matches at Wembley.
Everton Stadium’s round-of-16 match will feature the runners-up in Group A against the runners-up in Group B. So if England were to finish second in their group then they would play their next fixture at the Blues’ home.

The UEFA Euro 28 match schedule
Everton moved from Goodison Park – the first purpose-built football ground in England, their home since 1892, venue for the most English top flight matches, two finals and five World Cup fixtures, including a semi-final – earlier this year.
The Blues defeated Southampton 2-0 in their final game at Goodison on May 18 and then overcame Brighton & Hove Albion by the same scoreline in their first fixture at Hill Dickinson Stadium on August 24.
Councillor Liam Robinson, Leader of Liverpool City Council, said: “Everton’s new stadium is already helping to boost Liverpool’s profile nationally and internationally. Hosting UEFA Euro 2028 matches here will further cement our reputation as a city that delivers world-class events and unforgettable experiences for fans and visitors alike.
“We are working on building an event of excellence and inspiration, a welcoming, safe and sustainable UEFA Euro that enhances football development and creates lasting community benefits far beyond the pitch. The countdown is truly on now to what will be an unforgettable summer of football.”
