An insight into the stance of Barcelona legend Lionel Messi regarding a return to the club in a playing capacity has on Wednesday surfaced online.
This comes amid the assurance that the Argentine is under no circumstances considering as much.
As per a report from journalist Alfredo Martinez, Messi considers his chapter as a player in Catalunya’s capital to be ‘closed’.
Whilst the 38-year-old could open the door to taking his place in the boardroom down the line, his time donning Blaugrana colours has long come and gone.
> Leo Messi, en ningún caso se plantea el regreso al Barcelona como futbolista. Aquella etapa se cerró. Tiene contrato largo en Miami. Va temporada a temporada. Si regresa es más para los despachos, en el área deportiva. Es Patrimonio del Barcelona y ojalá regrese algún día

Messi’s fresh Barcelona links of course come fresh off the World Cup winner surprising the masses in Barcelona earlier this week.
After making his way to Spain for a training camp with the Argentine national team, Messi paid a late-night visit to the newly-renovated Spotify Camp Nou.
As much had given rise to suggestions that the tension between club and player since his unceremonious 2021 departure had eased, with a short-term loan from Inter Miami therefore being considered.
Any such transfer, however, has already been ruled out.
