Quarterbacks are one position you can afford to take a flier on every once in a while in fantasy football.

Texans backup quarterback Davis Mills finished as the top-scoring QB in fantasy last week, throwing two touchdowns and running for one more in a comeback victory over the Jaguars.

Last week, I highlighted Matthew Stafford (26.9 fantasy points), Jaxson Dart (26.3), Caleb Williams (25.1), and Jared Goff (24.8) as must starts. All four finished in the top-five quarterback scorers of Week 10 behind Mills.

Jameis Winston (vs Green Bay Packers)

With Dart (concussion) ruled out, gunslinger Jameis Winston will get his first start of the season for the Giants in Week 11. This could be his only start of the season, so it’s only right you give him a chance in your fantasy lineup.

Winston can still put up huge fantasy numbers. It won’t be easy against a tough Packers defense, but if he can come anywhere near his 36-point showing in 2024 Week 13 against the Broncos, his third-most recent start, it will be well worth it.

Geno Smith (vs Dallas Cowboys)

This selection is not so much about Smith and the Raiders, who own one of the NFL’s worst offenses this year. It is about the fact they are facing an extremely weak Cowboys defense.

Dallas allows the most fantasy points per game to opposing QBs this season. Every starting QB to face the Cowboys this season has scored at least 21 fantasy points.

Smith, especially with star tight end Brock Bowers back healthy, is capable of matching this.

Tua Tagovailoa (vs Washington Commanders)

Another quarterback enduring a troubling campaign, Tagovailoa will face arguably his easiest opponent of the season this Sunday against the Commanders in Madrid, Spain.

Tua has rekindled his connection with top wide out Jaylen Waddle in recent weeks, and the pair can do damage against a banged up Washington defense that has allowed an average of 29.1 fantasy points to QBs over the last four games.

Joe Flacco (at Pittsburgh Steelers)

Despite being rostered in 53 percent of Sleeper leagues, Flacco has been one of the top-performing fantasy QBs since coming in as the Bengals starter in Week 6.

The 40-year old has logged the following scores in four starts with Cincinnati: 18.76, 25.98, 24.32, and 32.70.

Flacco has benefitted greatly from having Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins at his disposal, and will look to match his Week 7 stat line of 342 yards and three touchdowns when facing the Steelers for the second time this season.
