Tonight, the San Antonio Spurs play the first of two consecutive home games versus the Golden State Warriors. The second game between the two teams will take place on Friday night. The Spurs enter tonight’s affair with a record of 8-2, while the Warriors sport a record of 6-6.
San Antonio has been streaky so far this season. First, the Spurs won five straight games. After that, they lost a pair of games before their current three-game winning streak.
The latest victory for the Spurs came in Chicago over the Bulls. Victor Wembanyama led the way with 38 points. His performance down the stretch was spectacular and he had a lot of teammates who also stepped up (see the Final Grades).
This is the second night of a back-to-back for the Warriors. Last night, Golden State lost in Oklahoma City to the defending champions by a final score of 126-102. Reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way for the Thunder with 28 points, 11 assists and three steals in 28 minutes.
San Antonio Spurs Injury Update
The injury news is mostly positive for the Spurs. After Luke Kornet was able to return from injury against the Bulls, that leaves only Dylan Harper on the sidelines. The second overall pick of the 2025 NBA Draft is dealing with a strained calf. The Spurs haven’t set a firm timeline for the rookie’s return.
Kornet immediately stepped in and played well for the Spurs. He was a big part of San Antonio’s fourth quarter push and finished with 16 points, seven rebounds, two assists and a block in 20 minutes of action.
San Antonio Spurs Starting Lineup
Since the return of De’Aaron Fox, head coach Mitch Johnson has used the same starting five of Fox at point guard, Stephon Castle at shooting guard, Devin Vassell at small forward, Harrison Barnes at power forward and Victor Wembanyama at center.
Off the bench, expect Keldon Johnson, Julian Champagnie and Luke Kornet to log the most minutes.
Betting Guide: Spurs vs. Warriors
The Spurs are favored by 3.5 points and the over/under is 232.5 points. The smart money is on the Spurs winning by four or more points. The Warriors are on the second night of a back-to-back and the Spurs will be rested and waiting to show off in front of their home fans.
