Pistons-Bulls Matchup Loses Plenty of Star Power

The Chicago Bulls and the Detroit Pistons will meet on Wednesday night for their first matchup since the start of the 2025-2026 NBA season.

Unfortunately, the game will lack some serious star power. Both teams have loaded up their injury reports, taking out a lot of the excitement for the mid-November matchup.

The Chicago Bulls Will Miss Their Top Guard

Josh Giddey has been dealing with an ankle concern. According to the official NBA injury report, Giddey has been diagnosed with a sprain. He was ruled out for Wednesday's matchup early.

For Giddey, it will be his second absence in a row. After his 32-minute showing against the Cleveland Cavaliers on November 8, Giddey missed the Bulls' latest matchup against the San Antonio Spurs. Chicago lost the matchup 121-117, picking up their third loss in a row.

This season, Giddey has been on a tear. In nine games, he's nearly averaging a triple-double with 21.4 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 9.3 assists. He's shooting 46 percent from the field and 38 percent from beyond the arc.

In addition to Giddey, the Bulls will remain without Coby White and Zach Collins. They also have several players on G League assignments.

The Detroit Pistons Loaded Up Their Report

On the other side, the Pistons are in rough shape. They anticipated a series of absences already, keeping up with the trend of missing Ausar Thompson and Tobias Harris, who are both dealing with sprained ankles.

The Pistons initially listed Isaiah Stewart as doubtful, while Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren were both viewed as questionable. All three have been ruled out, according to the final injury report.

It goes without saying just how important Duren and Cunningham have been for the Pistons this season. Cunningham is once again putting together an All-Star-caliber year, while Duren is averaging a double-double and looking like one of the most productive centers in the league.

Without Duren, Cunningham, Harris, Thompson, and Jaden Ivey, the Pistons are missing what would be their typical starting five. With Stewart out as well, they are down a temporary starter.

The Pistons are searching for their 10th win on Wednesday night. The Bulls and the Pistons are set for a 7 PM ET tip.
