Things are starting to click across the board for the Los Angeles Rams, even special teams is getting in the groove of things.

LA has one of the highest-scoring offenses in the league, with the defense in the top 6 in fewest points allowed per game. Quarterback Matthew Stafford is showing that he can still be considered an elite QB in the final few years of his career. Puka Nacua and Davante Adams are demonstrating the elite capabilities of a wide receiver duo. Running back Kyren Williams is off to a decent start after signing a $33 million contract in training camp. Jared Verse and Byron Young are making their cases to be considered Defensive Player of the Year.

The Rams have a 7-2 record and are currently fighting for the top playoff spot in the NFC. While the household names for the team can be asked to show up, others will need to step up.

One NFL analyst believes an offensive weapon on the Rams will break out in the latter half of the season and help the team.

Running Back Named Player To Breakout

Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report listed a player on every team who will break out in the second half of the 2025 season, with him naming Blake Corum as the breakout option for the Los Angeles Rams.

“Blake Corum didn’t get a lot of run as a rookie, as the Los Angeles Rams leaned heavily on starter Kyren Williams. However, L.A. has started to work the 2024 third-round pick into the game plan recently with impressive results,” Knox wrote.

“Corum has logged double-digit carries in three straight games and has added 157 scrimmage yards in that span. Don’t be surprised if he helps form the sort of two-back attack that can carry the Rams deep into the postseason.”

With Williams signing a new contract in the offseason, it was expected of him to receive the bulk of running plays this season. Kyren is leading the Rams with 659 rushing yards and 5 rushing touchdowns. But Corum has been quietly having a good season when he is in the backfield.

Corum has recorded four games with 4r rushing yards or more. He also has seven games where he had a rushing play of 10 or more yards. The running back has already surpassed his rookie season rushing yards and will appear to have more than 400+ yards.

If head coach Sean McVay gives Corum more opportunities, Corum could shine on offense.

Kyren Williams has the most knowledge of the system Sean McVay runs. This can explain why no other running back has been able to take over as the lead back in the Rams’ offense.

But Williams can’t do it all. McVay was impressed with what he saw from Blake Corum during the preseason, which shows that he could get more snaps in the future.

“He just feels like he’s more present; he feels like he’s enjoying it more. I think he has a better understanding of what the intent of the different things he’s responsible for and what we’re really trying to do on those given plays,” McVay said. “I’ve been really pleased with Blake.”

Corum is still just 24 years old and will have more time to mesh well into the offense.
