GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) -April Schulte-Barclay will travel to Los Angeles on November 14 to perform at the LA Rams pregame show, just days after turning 50.
Schulte-Barclay, who has been dancing her whole life, will perform at SoFi Stadium on Sunday in front of nearly 70,000 people before the Rams face the Seattle Seahawks.
“Life doesn’t have to slow down; Q\`1A QA we don’t have to use age as an excuse to do things we love,” Schulte-Barclay said. “And when I saw this opportunity to perform for the LA Rams Seattle Seahawks pregame show, I was all in. I auditioned, I sent my video in, I was accepted, and I’ve been practicing since July.”
The team Schulte-Barclay will perform with consists of 50 women, all over 50, from across the country.
“This is a completely new experience for me. I wanted to leap forward and literally leap into this opportunity so that I can meet new women who are like-minded and who are willing to keep moving as we age, because certainly that’s the key to staying young,” she said.
Schulte-Barclay and the rest of the team have been practicing their routine virtually for several months and will meet in person on Friday to run the dance together as a team.
“I am actually not nervous for the performance itself. I love performing. It’s in my blood. I can’t wait to get on that football field and look at the stadium around me and see all those people,” she said.
Schulte-Barclay and her family run a local dance studio in Grand Junction called Dance Works, where she teaches dance classes for all ages.
