BOSTON — Jordan Walsh is getting his first start of the season after he’s played the best basketball of his career recently. Walsh replaces Josh Minott in the starting lineup for the 7:30 p.m. Wednesday game against the Grizzlies at TD Garden.
The other starters remain unchanged in Payton Pritchard, Derrick White, Jaylen Brown and Neemias Queta.
The move doesn’t come as a huge surprise as Walsh has excelled in the past week. He hit a crucial 3-pointer against the Magic as part of an overall stellar night. His defense on 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey also impressed as he’s turned his game up a few notches recently.
Minott has been a consistent starter of late as he’s started nine games this season. But he didn’t play in the second half of the Sixers loss while Walsh got a career-high 29 minutes. Minott has impressed in limited moments himself to start the year, though his impact has been muted in the past couple games.
The Celtics have tinkered with their starting lineup this season. The positive note, though, is that they’re getting solid contributions from their stable of young wings. Minott, 22, has been a solid contributor. So has, Walsh, 21. Rookie Hugo Gonzalez, 19, also looks like he has a bright future in the league going forward.
