Brett Favre doesn’t seem to be a Bad Bunny fan.
The former Packers quarterback joins the list of people who have slammed the NFL’s decision to name the Puerto Rican singer as the Super Bowl LX halftime performer.
Favre explained his stance on the “4th & Favre” podcast this week.
“I’d pick someone who — maybe Jason Aldean… someone who loves this country and that everyone could relate to,” Favre said when David Kano asked who he would choose if he were the commissioner of the NFL. “I think Jason Aldean right now is as big a patriot and has a great voice.”
Farve did not explain why he doesn’t think Bad Bunny, who has around 100 million more album sales than Aldean, loves America. But the NFL selecting Bad Bunny as the performer has sparked disapproval from the MAGA base, which is largely unhappy with the pick.
Speaking to reporters at the league’s annual fall owners meeting, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the decision was “carefully thought through.”
“He’s one of the leading and most popular entertainers in the world,” Goodell said. “That’s what we try to achieve.”
“We’re confident it’s going to be a great show and that he understands the platform that he’s on. I think it’s going to be exciting and a united moment.”
Bad Bunny, the 31-year-old whose birth name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has won three Grammys and 12 Latin Grammys.
