Scott knows how to win trophies with England - and hopes to be at World Cup

Scott has been a part of the U19 and U21 teams that have won the European Championships, with the most recent crown coming last summer.

The midfielder has been handed his first opportunity to be a part of the senior squad by Thomas Tuchel, as the German starts to think about what his final squad for the tournament next summer will be.

Asked about his experience playing in those tournaments, and the pressure it brings with it, Scott said: “I think, especially for all us younger players coming through, we've been to tournaments as well, and we know what it's like.

“Obviously not at a senior level, but, you know the pressures of being there. And myself, I've won two tournaments in the youth teams here, so, you know that pressure and you know what it's going to be like being away for that amount of time.

“So I think that definitely helps. And when you come to the senior team, obviously it's a whole different step up, but it's a challenge and it's something that we all watched the tournaments growing up as kids, and that's where you want to be at the end of the day.

“So, yeah, hopefully, if I impress and show what I can do, I'd love to hopefully be on that plane.”

He continued: “With the 19s one that was almost my first experience of a tournament with England.

“So yeah, I was just happy to be there, to be honest.

“I wasn't sure if I was going to play too much. I'd only just come into the group, the one camp with the under 18s. So yeah, I was happy to be a part of that squad and once you're there and once you're in it, you're just enjoying it.

“Every game that comes, you just want to win. And like I said, I've been lucky with the England groups I've had, the tightness of the groups has been immense, really.

“We've been very close off the pitch in both of the groups. The 19s want to win it, I think you learn a lot about yourself playing wise and playing in the tournament format.

“I feel like a few of us, we definitely took that into the under 21s tournament and helped us massively.

“As a result, we ended up winning it. So, yeah, it's amazing to be playing in tournaments. I'm grateful for those opportunities I've had and hopefully, if I get the chance, I can take it into a senior tournament.”
