Celtics get good news in latest injury report ahead of matchup with Grizzlies

According to Boston Celtics PR, Hugo Gonzalez is probable to for Wednesday night’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies with a left ankle sprain. The rookie exited Tuesday’s loss to the Philadelphia 76ers after rolling the ankle in the third quarter. He immediately went back to the locker room for further testing.

Though he never checked back into the game, Gonzalez was [available to play](https://hardwoodhoudini.com/celtics-huge-update-hugo-gonzalez-injury-scare-76ers-ankle), according to the team.

The 2025 28th overall pick finished the night with five points, two rebounds, and a steal in just six minutes.

Aside from Gonzalez and Jayson Tatum, who will be out for the majority of the season while he recovers from a torn Achilles tendon, the Celtics’ injury report is clean.

Gonzalez has impressed so far as a rookie. He’s earned playing time in 10 of Boston’s 12 games, due to his impressive defensive motor and high-IQ on both sides of the ball. It’s clear that he plays with a strong understanding of the game, even at just 19 years old.

A lot of the intangibles are a direct result of Gonzalez’s prior hoops experience, coming up through the Real Madrid pipeline. Before being drafted by Boston, he was still playing at a professional level with former NBAers.

Through his first month as a Celtic, Hugo has averaged 3.3 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 0.9 steals per game in just under 13 minutes in each outing.

It’s been a promising start for the young Spaniard, to say the very least.

Sam Hauser is fully off the Celtics' injury report

--------------------------------------------------

Sam Hauser is a notable omission from Wednesday’s injury report. The sharpshooting wing was originally [listed as probable](https://hardwoodhoudini.com/celtics-76ers-injury-report-sam-hauser-joel-embiid-jayson-tatum) to play Tuesday in Philly with a right wrist sprain.

Though he suited up vs. the 76ers, the Wisconsin native didn’t look like himself. He scored just three points while shooting one of five from the field, and one of four from beyond the arc.

He did, however, make his presence felt on the glass, snagging seven rebounds.

Hauser’s ailment on his shooting wrist explains his cold play over the past week or so. The 41.7% career-three-point-shooter has made just four of his last 24 attempts from long range.

Though that rate is far below expectations, at least there’s some explanation with the wrist sprain.

Boston’s otherwise clean bill of health should give them a real chance to get back into the win column vs. Memphis. The Grizzlies have stumbled out of the gate to start the 2025-26 season, winning just four of their first 12 games.
