Leeds United head coach Daniel Farke sanctioned another loan switch for Joe Gelhardt.
Out-on-loan Leeds United player Joe Gelhardt has been compared to Premier League great Dennis Bergkamp - if only in style - as he continues to earn rave reviews away from Elland Road.
Gelhardt, 23, initially joined Championship outfit Hull City on loan from Leeds during the January transfer window. His agreement was then re-worked this summer and it has been an excellent few months for the forward.
Indeed, he has totted-up seven goals in 15 second-tier outings so far this campaign.
That's been enough to put the Tigers in fifth position as early-season Play-Off contenders.
Things are going according to plan for the Leeds man, individually and collectively, prompting his manager to put him in the same bracket as Premier League royalty. However, for anyone jumping the gun, Hull head coach Sergej Jakirovic was quick to clarify his own comparisons between Gelhardt and Arsenal's Dutch icon Bergkamp.
"Gelhardt is more of a winger than a centre forward," he said to Croatian media - as quoted by Jutarnji.
"I won't go into the reasons why Leeds gave him up, but I had more than enough information about him before I came to Hull. Gelhardt knows how to score goals, without any exaggeration, in the style of the legendary Dennis Bergkamp."
Gelhardt, who previously spent time with Wigan Athletic and Sunderland (loan), as a youngster, arrived at Elland Road in 2020. However, after making his way through to play 57 games for the first-team, he was allowed to sign for Hull coming up a year ago - enjoying two separate loan spells there so far.
His return for the Tigers - 12 goals and three assists in 36 matches - marks a more profitable record than his efforts for Leeds. Gelhardt only has three goals and seven assists to his name for the Whites.
Bergkamp, meanwhile, won three Premier League titles with Arsenal during a hugely-memorable stint with them, between 1995 and his retirement in 2006.
