Liverpool right-back Jeremie Frimpong has named his toughest opponent, selecting a player outside of the Premier League.
Trent Alexander-Arnold leaving to join Real Madrid forced the Reds to look for a new right-back this summer.
They settled on Frimpong, but things have not gone to plan for the Dutchman or Liverpool so far in 2025/26.

There has been a suggestion that Alexander-Arnold’s exit has impacted Mohamed Salah, while their new right-sided full-back has struggled to make an impact.

Liverpool’s Jeremie Frimpong names toughest opponent as ex-AC Milan defender
Prior to signing for the Reds, Frimpong shone in the Bundesliga for Bayer Leverkusen, scoring 30 and assisting 44 in 190 matches across all competitions.
He has also featured on 14 occasions for the Dutch national team, providing one assist.
During those outings, the 24-year-old has come up against some world-class players, and has now named his toughest opponent.
Asked by JD Sports which player has been the hardest to face, he selected Theo Hernandez.

He said: “There’s a couple, I’d probably say Theo Hernandez. He’s fast as well, but he’s really powerful.”
His answer may well have been different had he played more games for Liverpool this season, but Frimpong has had injury issues since signing.
Jeremie Frimpong injury update
On the back of moving to England, the former Celtic man has earned just 84 minutes of Premier League action, in part due to two separate hamstring problems.
His most recent injury has seen the right-back miss Liverpool’s last five games in all competitions.
Speaking last week, Arne Slot gave a Frimpong injury update but could not put a definitive date on his return.
He said: “Alisson for sure. And I expect Jeremie back after the international break as well because we play from November until March!
“But I don’t expect Jeremie to be fully fit for [Nottingham] Forest. But with Alisson, we expect this, yes.”
