Key Newcastle United injury return dates - when the Magpies’ injured starts are likely to be back in action.

If you think things can’t get any worse for Newcastle United right now - they can.

Fresh from their worst performances of the season at West Ham and Brentford - it’s Man City at home next up. Aye, the visitors to St James’ Park just absolutely slapped champions Liverpool in their last game.

From the game, United picked up a fresh injury problem, with Nick Pope needed to come off. Here’s Newcastle United’s injury list in full and when each player is expected to return:

Yoane Wissa

Over two months have passed since Wissa joined Newcastle from Brentford, however he is yet to make his debut after sustaining a posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injury on international duty with DR Congo.

Howe said on Friday: “Yoane’s working well. He's on the grass, he's building his fitness. I think the knee's feeling good, no problems with that, it's more a case of looking at his fitness, sharpness, all the things that he's going to need to put together.

“He's in a good place injury-wise now to really kick on and push his body, but we're going to need to give him time to get fit and robust enough, and in the position where he can give his best version of himself for the team.

“So, how long that takes is slightly unclear, but yes, I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.”

Expected return date

Manchester City (H), 22/11.

Anthony Gordon

Gordon has been feeling some discomfort in his hip in recent weeks and the pain forced him to withdraw in the first-half against Athletic Club on Wednesday night.

What’s Eddie Howe said?

Providing an update on Gordon, Howe said: “We don't think it's a serious injury, but we're going to get him scanned and we're awaiting the results. I think there's every chance he might miss out on Sunday, but we give him every opportunity to be fit.”

Expected return date

Manchester City (H), 22/11.

Will Osula

Osula was named on the bench for the Athletic Club game but was removed before kick-off due to an ongoing ankle issue.

What’s Eddie Howe said?

On Friday, Howe said: “It's something that he's been feeling for a little bit, but he's been functional. He's been able to train and play, but it was getting to the stage where it was, I think, affecting him a little bit more laterally, and we had a scan.

“We were awaiting the scan results, sort of tied in with the game, and the scan just told us to pull back a little bit, so he'll have a period of rest. But again, it's not a serious injury. We expect him to be weeks, not any longer.”

Expected return date

Tino Livramento

Livramento was stretchered off with a knee injury in the defeat to Arsenal in September but is closing in on a return.

What’s Eddie Howe said?

Howe said: “I'd say he's still on track. I think the two-week international break dictates that he won't be able to bring that forward by two weeks. I think we're looking at the Manchester City game for him as a pencilled-in date for hopefully that he can be available for.

“But he's doing well. He feels really good. There's no adverse reaction to his injury.”

Expected return date

Manchester City (H) 22/11.

Nick Pope

The keeper went off after a heavy fall in the second half, then led to him being assessed and deemed in need of a concussion sub. Aaron Ramsdale was brought on for his Premier League debut for the Magpies in the Brentford defeat.

Manchester City (H) 22/11.
