FC Midtjylland forward Franculino Dju — remember him? West Ham were heavily linked with the 22-year-old in the summer and were even reported to have had a bid rejected.
The Guinea-Bissau international has continued been in form, scoring 19 goals this season, and according to the Daily Mirror, the Hammers could now be set to make another move for him in January.
It’s believed it would take an offer in excess of £22 million to tempt the Danish club to sell, with Dju having been scouted extensively by former [West Ham](https://www.claretandhugh.info/west-ham-united-football-club-bio/) head of recruitment Kyle Macaulay.
Nuno Eyes a Striker After Summer Gamble
---------------------------------------
In the end, the club decided against spending big on a forward last summer, instead opting to bring in Callum Wilson on a free transfer — a decision that looks a bit foolish given the clubs striker crisis.
Now it appears Nuno Espirito Santo wants to address that mistake by signing a striker as soon as the transfer window opens.
Whether that player turns out to be Franculino Dju remains to be seen. He’s clearly talented, but it’s unclear if he’s a genuine target for Nuno or simply a name being recycled from the Potter–Macaulay scouting era, when West Ham were known to be tracking multiple Scandinavian prospects.
Either way, with goals still a problem and Niclas Füllkrug pushing for a move, expect plenty of striker rumours to resurface as January draws near.
