Newcastle United transfer round-up: Spain star targeted, wonderkid scouted and Aaron Ramsdale…

January is not so far away anymore, and Newcastle United are going to have to get busy in the market, so here are all the latest transfer stories for the Magpies.

It was a pretty eventful summer for Newcastle United, with Alexander Isak’s transfer saga dominating the headlines and Nick Woltemade’s arrival proving to be successful.

However, things have not gone to plan for Eddie Howe so far this season. The Magpies are down in 14th place right now and predictions have Newcastle pegged for disappointment come the end of the campaign.

Still, there’s plenty of time to change all that, and arranging smart moves in the upcoming transfer window will make all the difference.

Oscar Mingueza becomes Newcastle target

He used to play for Barcelona. Now he’s at Celta Vigo. But Oscar Mingueza could go to Newcastle in January.

The 26-year-old defender normally plays at centre-back but can also fill in at right-back, which would come in handy given Newcastle’s current injury issues.

Newcastle will face competition from the likes of Aston Villa, West Ham United, Como, Atalanta, AC Milan and Marseille for Mingueza, who is out of contract in the summer. But, a cut-price deal could be struck sooner.

While Rory Finneran is shining at the U17 World Cup, Newcastle are watching another young talent at the tournament.

It’s thought scouts are at the competition in Qatar to keep an eye on Asharaf Loukman Tapsoba, who is representing Burkina Faso.

The only problem is, the 15-year-old striker is not allowed to move until 2028. He’s a player Newcastle have watched previously, sending scouts to track him at the Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations back in April.

Newcastle United’s goalkeeper situation

Aaron Ramsdale wants to stay at Newcastle, but there is a problem. Southampton will want £20m for the goalkeeper, which is thought to be a little steep.

Meanwhile, we are told Newcastle have been offered Marc-Andre ter Stegen. It is thought the Barcelona man would be interested in joining the Magpies, but plenty of clubs have also been given the chance to sign him.

Newcastle United transfer round-up: William Osula, PSR freedom, Jeremy Monga

We conclude this transfer round-up with a blitz of the other big stories on Tyneside.

First of all, William Osula is wanted by Eintracht Frankfurt. Their sporting director called him an ‘interesting’ player and it’s thought a deal is being worked on.

Whatever happens in January, we are told Newcastle have plenty of PSR freedom. The sale of Isak in the summer helps massively, and we expect PIF to back Howe in the New Year as a result.

One player Newcastle might sign is Jeremy Monga. The Leicester City wonderkid is hot property, and the Magpies are very keen indeed.

Meanwhile, Sven Botman is set to be rewarded with a new contract at Newcastle. At the same time, rumours linking Emil Krafth with a move to Copenhagen are unfounded. It’s thought Newcastle do not want Krafth to go and his salary is too high for the Danish club anyway.
