Opinion: Axel Disasi doesn't deserve bomb squad treatment after news coming out of Chelsea

Axel Disasi has not played a single minute of first-team football for Chelsea this season, and that is unlikely to change.

The defender has been part of the Blues’ infamous bomb squad and recently featured in an Under-21s game.

Some Chelsea fans would not mind seeing him return to the first-team fold. A section of supporters feel that Disasi is a better player than Tosin Adarabioyo, who is a member of Enzo Maresca’s senior squad.

Whether Disasi is superior to his teammate or not, the centre-back does not deserve the treatment that he is receiving right now.

Axel Disasi proving his professionalism during first-team exile

It is quite harsh for Disasi not to even be training with the first team, especially considering his conduct.

According to the Daily Mail, the 27-year-old has shown professionalism throughout his exile, hence Chelsea’s decision to let him captain the Under-21 side in their 4-1 win against Reading.

The newspaper has also been told that Disasi has been “very good” with the club’s younger players during his time with them at Cobham.

When you consider all of that, Disasi deserves to be brought back in from the cold, though it does not look like Chelsea have any intention of allowing that to happen.

Last month, it was reported that Chelsea have no plans to reintegrate Disasi back into the first-team squad.

Axel Disasi good enough for Chelsea’s cup games

Chelsea have had injuries in central defence this season, while they have played League One side Lincoln City and the Premier League’s bottom team Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup. There is no reason why Disasi could not have featured in those games.

Disasi has more than enough quality to play against such teams. He is a France international with Premier League and Champions League experience. And again, it just seems a bit brutal not to have him involved with the first team at all.

At this point, the former AS Monaco man obviously has to leave Stamford Bridge in the new year.

Galatasaray are reportedly interested in signing Disasi, so the Turkish club could be a potential destination for him in 2026.
