Former Liverpool player explains who is to blame for Alexander Isak's slow start at Anfield

Alexander Isak’s start to life as a Liverpool player has been far from smooth sailing, with some now trying to pinpoint why things have gone so wrong for him this season.

Most people thought that the number nine would come into Liverpool’s starting XI and instantly turn their fortunes around.

Isak was one of the Premier League’s best strikers last season, and with players such as Mohamed Salah and Florian Wirtz around him, it felt like there would be no stopping him.

Instead, he’s been dubbed as one of the Reds’ worst signings of the window, and even though Isak’s injuries have played a big part in his lack of form, when he has been played, he should’ve done much better.

There’s still time for things to turn around, but at the moment, former Liverpool ace Don Hutchison has no remorse for the attacker.

Don Hutchison believes Alexander Isak is the main person to blame for his poor run of form

Isak is set to return from injury in the near future, with Graham Potter even calling him up to Sweden’s national team for their November games.

If over the next month or so, Isak doesn’t prove his worth to Liverpool, fans will probably begin to question why they spent £125 million to sign him in the first place.

The way that Liverpool managed to sign the striker has been questioned by many, with Hutchison now saying that Isak only has himself to blame for his form.

“Totally his own fault. He should have been professional, done his pre-season properly with Newcastle. It was only ever gonna be 1 of 2 outcomes,” he wrote via his personal X account.

“1. He goes to Liverpool and is 100% first, ready to play!

“2. He stays at Newcastle and is ready to play.”

Alexander Isak should have gone about his Liverpool transfer in a different manner

Although Isak’s choice to strike and his refusal to play for Newcastle is what got him his Liverpool move, it may have cost him an entire season.

Last term, the Sweden international was in some of the best form of his life and was the star man at St James’ Park.

However, since the Anfield outfit have a team full of superstars, he’s no longer the guy that people look towards to get them out of a pickle.

And that’s because, at Liverpool, that’s Salah’s job, but even he’s had a tough time of it this term.

If Isak wanted to make the move so badly, he should’ve just handed in a transfer request and gone about his business as usual.

Instead, Isak may end up costing Liverpool the Premier League and Champions League titles, all because he hasn’t been fit enough to play due to the decisions he’s made.
